How to live a long, happy life; there are numerous tips out there for senior citizens on how to do just that.

Though you've probably heard eating right and exercising will get you there, there's another suggestion experts say can bring you not only health and happiness, but a play-mate.

Experts say having a pet can bring seniors more fulfillment, leading to a longer, healthier life.

Many seniors go without pets these days due to factors like the economy or trouble keeping up with one.

Pets in need of adoption have been high this year in Abilene, but thanks to a recent senior adoption drive by Humana and the Humane Society, numerous local seniors took home companions last month.

Adoption coordinators are always pleased to see pets find homes, but they were especially glad to see local seniors find life-long companions.

20 pets were adopted at the Senior Adoption Drive in July.
