Madison, Wis.(WFRV)-- It's not just Wisconsin Democrats who will be voting in a recall primary on May 8th, Governor Scott Walker has an opponent too, which has created the need for a Republican primary.

23-year old Arthur Kohl-Riggs is opposing Governor Walker in the Republican primary.

The Madison activist is often seen dressed as Abraham Lincoln. His campaign website states he's for 'clean and open government' and worker's rights. He says, "All workers have the right to organize, and the right to collectively bargain."

Kohl-Riggs insists he's not a 'fake' candidate. He says, " I would love to be governor. I know that I would do a great service to the people of Wisconsin as a representative of their interest."

Kohl-Riggs says the GAB validated more than 2200 signatures in April to put his name on the ballot. You might recognize him - dressed as Lincoln, he spent most of last spring protesting changes in collective bargaining rights for union workers at the state capitol.

Some local Republicans say his message doesn't align with their party beliefs.

Says Outagamie County Republican Spokesperson, Ron Tusler, " I don't know if the people he's appealing to really are Republicans. The people he seems to be selling to are really Democrats."

Many feel he's on the ballot to take away votes from Governor Walker in the primary. Kohl-Riggs admits that his chance at victory is slim.

The Democratic primary recall candidates in the governor's race are Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk, State Senator Kathleen Vinehout, and Secretary of State Douglas LaFollette.

The winners of the May 8th primaries face each other in the general election on June 5th.
