Campaign Criticism For Delwin Jones

Former longtime State Representative Delwin Jones is campaigning to get
his old job back, but one local attorney has an issue with his strategy.
Lubbock attorney Keith Thompson, recently filed a complaint against Jones, who's running for the State House seat he held for three decades.
"I don't worry too much about what happens during campaigns. There's always somebody who has an idea that's at a variance with what you or I might have," said Jones.
The attorney says Jones' campaign signs are dishonest and break the law.
"The election code requires anyone who's not the incumbent to use the word 'for' in describing themselves. I think the signs in town are misleading. I think Mr. Jones has a duty to the community to be forthright and honest and represent himself as a person seeking office, not the incumbent," said Thompson.
The Ethics Commission hasn't commented on the issue, but fines for a violation like this one could cost a candidate as much as $5000.
Jones says his signs were approved by the Ethics Commission before they were even printed, and he's not worried about the complaint.
