Governor n Rick Perry made a visit to the Hub City Tuesday afternoon.

Perry spoke to a packed room at the 50 Yard Line Steakhouse at an event mixed with equal parts politics and policy.

Perry spent most of his visit touting his new budget plan, called the Texas Budget Compact. The plan includes five pillars designed to cut spending and change the state's spending habits, including:

-Practicing truth in budgeting
-Support a constitutional limit of spending to the growth of population and inflation
-Oppose any new taxes or tax increases, and make the small business tax exemption permanent
-Preserve a strong Rainy Day Fund
-Cut the unnecessary and duplicative government programs and agencies

Perry also spent time talking up Rep. Charles Perry, who is facing a primary challenge from fellow Republican Delwin Jones. Rep. Perry said he was humbled that state-level leaders like Perry would take time to visit Lubbock and support him.
