When you think of the Houston Cougars, you probably don't think of a Top 10 team. However, that could all change over the next few weeks. After a huge last-second victory over Texas Tech Saturday, Houston (3-0) shot to numbers 12 and 15 in various college football ranking polls. The team is led by Wylie product Case Keenum who engineered a 29-28 victory this week.
“It was a great victory in light of what was happening in our stadium,” UH Coach Kevin Sumlin told the Houston Chronicle. “For it to be the largest crowd since we moved from the Astrodome, to do it for the alumni, the students who showed up, for the students who lined up on Monday, for the fans who were there when we showed up (Saturday) morning ... It means a lot to win a game in the last few seconds in front of them against an in-state rival.”
After the win, Keenum was ecstatic. "If you don't look forward to that and have excitement, then you're not alive; you're not human," Keenum told reporters. "It's a lot of fun, and I'd like to do this every week."
A prominent New York Times blog lists Keenum as the number two prospect for the Heisman Award.
