ADA, Okla. -- Abilene Christian University redshirt freshman Mitchell Gale threw for 300 yards and three touchdowns in his first start to lead the unbeaten and second-ranked Wildcats to a 43-6 blowout win over East Central in a Lone Star Conference crossover game at Norris Field.

Making the first start of his career, Gale finished the afternoon 20 of 28 for 300 yards as the Wildcats improved to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the LSC.  ACU has now won 16 straight regular-season games dating back to the start of the 2008 season.

The Wildcats racked up 540 yards of offense compared to 159 for the Tigers, who had 134 of those yards in the second half.

Daryl Richardson went 48 yards inside the ECU 10-yard line on the first play of the game, and the ACU junior running back finished with 143 yards and three touchdowns on the ground on just 18 carries.  He scored on runs of 5 yards, 25 yards and 1 yard as ACU took a 34-0 lead.

Gale threw a pair of touchdown passes in the first half, a 13-yarder to Kendrick Johnson to make it 14-0 and a 54-yarder to Edmund Gates that pushed the lead out to 27-0.

After Josh Moldanado scored on an 11-yard run for East Central with 10:31 to play, the Wildcats quickly answered with a four-play, 52-yard drive that culminated in a 16-yard touchdown pass from Gale to Andrews to cap the day's scoring.

Gates finished with five catches for 112 yards and one score for the Wildcats.  Moldanado had 44 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries, while backup quarterback Lucas Peters threw for 83 yards while completing 6 of 12 passes.
