Report: Crabtree Meets with 49ers

By: Austin Kellerman
Updated: October 6, 2009
ESPN.com reports Texas Tech standout Michael Crabtree and his agent met with San Francisco 49ers officials for about an hour Tuesday afternoon.

A team spokesman confirmed the interview to one new agency but declined to discuss particulars of discussions or negotiations.

ESPN reports that Crabtree is interested in playing football for the 49ers this season. However, there's no word of how much progress was made during Tuesday's meeting. The two sides had gone almost three weeks without talking.

San Francisco must sign Crabtree by November 17 in order for him to play during this season. If he isn't signed, it's possible Crabtree could sign up for the 2010 draft next April.

The 49ers reportedly offered Crabtree a deal for 5 years and $20 million prior to the start on the season.
