Ruff Riders Start 2010 Season In March

Richmond, VA:  The Indoor Football League is thrilled to announce the official 2010 game schedule for the Intense Conference’s Lonestar Divsions.  The Arkansas Twisters, Austin Turfcats, Corpus Christi Hammerheads, and San Angelo Stampede Express will make up the Lonestar East Division, while the Abilene Ruff Riders, Amarillo Dusters, and Odessa Roughnecks will compete in the Lonestar West Division.  “It was an extraordinary process”, stated IFL Commissioner Tommy Benizio. “Thanks to the hard work and determination of everyone involved in the scheduling procedure, we succeeded in developing a beneficial situation for all the teams involved.”

The Abilene Ruff Riders are included in this schedule while the league continues the process of transferring the team to new ownership.  Formal approval of these investors is expected next week.  Unfortunately, the El Paso Generals have made a decision to not play in 2010.  It is hoped that the league will be able to place a team in El Paso for the 2011 season. 

The league was created in 2008 as a product of the Intense Football League merging with the United Indoor Football Association.  In its inaugural season, the IFL fielded 19 teams.  The league has increased its members to 25 for the 2010 season, consisting of teams from Alaska to Washington D.C.
