CISCO, Texas –The Cisco College Wrangler baseball team is ranked 20th in the nation according to a pre-season poll of the NJCAA Division I baseball.

In 2009, the Wranglers finished second in conference play and racked up 44 wins in the season. The Wranglers finished third in the nation in hitting and finished 18th in the nation overall. They were also ranked third among junior colleges in Texas.

The team won on the field and in the classroom, posting an overall team GPA of 3.1 in 2009. “We’ve accomplished a lot in the past five years, and we’re expecting great things for our team and players in 2010,” said David White, head baseball coach at Cisco College.

The college recently completed construction of a new indoor batting facility. The 2,800 sq. ft. building contains two full length cages, wall-to-wall field turf and a sound system.

“We really appreciate all of the support we received from Dan Wilks and Calvin Wallen. We never would have been able to complete the facility without their assistance,” said White.

Over the past five years the college has sent more than 40 students to play Division I baseball in the NCAA and numerous students have gone on to play baseball at Division II and Division III universities.

The first home game for the 2010 season is scheduled for Feb. 8 at 1 p.m. when the Cisco Wranglers will face off against the Mountain View Lions.
