There are almost 64,000 acres and over 230 species of birds that have been seen in the park. Bird enthusiasts from all over the world come to the park, many to fill their life list for a black capped vireo or golden cheeked warbler.
Below ground, the Kickapoo Cavern is a subterranean wonder, with nearly four million years of artistic handiwork. The Stuart Bat cave has nearly 500,000 Mexican free-tailed bats that are a big attraction to park visitors.
Texas Parks and Wildlife members are trying to keep this park as natural as possible, laid back, and low key.
