Folia Mae "Dude" Jarrett

Folia Mae "Dude" Jarrett, age 87, entered into the Lord's eternal rest on Monday, September 24, 2007, at Eastland Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2007, at 2 p.m. in the Summers-Bakker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J. Bryan Patrick officiating. Interment will follow at Eastland Cemetery.
Dude was born on December 15, 1919, to Tobe Morton and Nevada (Perkins) Morton in Pyote, Texas; but spent most of her life in Morton Valley and the surrounding Eastland area. Morton Valley was named after her father, Tobe Morton, who donated the land for the school where she graduated, in this small community five miles north of Eastland. Dude married John "Johnny" Hubert Jarrett on August 1, 1937, in Palo Pinto, Texas. They were blessed with a son, Jaye C. Jarrett.
Dude enjoyed taking care of her family and she was proud to be a homemaker. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching sports on television. Dude had been a member of the Olden United Methodist Church and visited many other United Methodist Churches in areas where she lived while traveling with Johnny's pipeline employment.
Dude was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 51 years, Johnny Jarrett in August of 1988; her brothers A.C. and Raleigh Morton; and her sisters Celia Rae "Jacks" Beck, Gladys Hensley, and Lila Graham.
Dude is survived by her son Jaye C. Jarrett and wife Patricia Ann Fullen Jarrett of San Antonio; grandchildren, Tami Jarrett Plummer and husband Jim of Houston, Lisa Jarrett Richter and husband Kris of San Antonio, and John Milton Jarrett of San Antonio; and great-grandchildren Jarrett N. Richter and Kristina L. Richter.
Dude will be remembered for her dedication and loyalty to her family, and her love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her delight in telling family history stories. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Memorials may be made in Folia Jarrett's name to the First United Methodist Church - P.O. Box 588, Eastland, Texas 76448. Services will be held under the direction of the Summers - Bakker Funeral home in Eastland.
