Walter Robert "Wally" Carlile

Walter Robert "Wally" Carlile, of Abilene, died Thursday, February 4, 2010 at a local hospital. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.

Wally was born March 10, 1945 in Liverpool England to Walter Robert Carlile and Ivy (Lewis) Carlile. He attended four years of college in England and received a Masters Degree in Engineering from Oxford University, where he also taught Engineering. Wally retired from the British Military after 19 years of service. He worked in the tire industry for over 40 years; first working for Michelin Tires in England and later working in management for Wingfoot Commercial Tire Systems. He moved to Abilene from Roanoke, Texas in 2001. Wally married Anita Ann Meats on September 1, 2001in Abilene.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ivy Carlile and one brother, Ronnie Carlile. Wally is survived by his wife, Anita Carlile of Abilene; two sons, Robert Daigle of Granbury and James Daigle of Cleburne; two daughters, Teresa and Cassandra Daigle, of Abilene; brother-in-law, Sheldon Meats, Jr. and wife Annemarie and their family, of Atlanta, Georgia; three brothers, David Carlile and his family, of New Zealand, Gordon Carlile and his family, of American Samoa, and Dennis Carlile and his family, of New Zealand; two sisters, Patricia Carlile and her family and Christine Carlile and her family, all of New Zealand; sister-in-law, Mary Trubenstein, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Debra and Cecil Wyatt, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sally and Sheldon Meats, all of San Angelo; one granddaughter, Mekenna Daigle, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Hendrick Hospice Care, 1682 Hickory, Abilene, Texas 79601.
