Thanks to a tip to Operation Game thief, two Harris' hawks that were unlawfully captured and taken to North Carolina were treated to a plane ride back to their south Texas home recently.

The hawks return was the result of nearly two months effort that included state game wardens, raptor biologists, and the Fish and Wildlife service.

Fish and Wildlife members commented, "It's rare to work a wildlife crime where the end is seeing them released back into the wild."

Most wildlife crimes involve dealing with dead animals or animals that aren't able to be released back into the wild because they were in captivity for too long or they were injured.
