Virginia Prado Shirley, 79, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2010
in Abilene. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 14th at 6:00 PM with
a Rosary Service beginning at 7:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy
277 South. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, February
15th in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Father Bush of
Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Virginia was born on May 21, 1930 in Brackettville, TX to Hipolito and Josephine Prado. She attended school in Sweetwater. In 1962 she married Arthur Shirley the love of her life and enjoyed 47 years of wonderful companionship. Virginia was employed by AISD as a teacher’s aid for 12 years until her retirement. She and Arthur were members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending her time volunteering for various services and collecting dolls.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Arthur; one brother, David Prado of Grand Prairie; two sisters, Pauline Gutierrez of Lubbock, and Mary Prado of Abilene; Several nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Camilio Jose Prado and Felis Prado.
