Gail E. Browning

Gail E. Browning, 60, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2010 in Abilene. A memorial service was held Thursday, February 25th at Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South.

Gail was born in Abilene on May 8, 1949 the daughter of Lt. Col Arlton Wayne Hardin and Helen Ruth Walker Hardin. As the daughter of a career Air Force man, Gail lived in many places throughout her childhood; she attended elementary school in France and graduated from High School in Missouri. She had a Masters degree in Animal Science and Agronomy from Texas Tech University. Gail had accomplished many things during her short life. She was a certified Gemologist, was the first women meat inspector to work for the F.D.A., was a work out agent for F.D.L.I.C. and later was an Executive Vice-President of Security State Bank. In the last years of her life, she had become a well known breeder of exotic birds.

Gail was a friend to many and gave freely of herself, her belongings, and her vast knowledge of many subjects to help anyone in need. She will be missed.

Survivors include her sister, Diane Hardin Rickman; dear friends, George and Heather Allsup of Abilene; cousins, Jeanne Reynolds, Bill Fox, Candy Burns, Mitzi Miller, Yvonne Sharp and Weldon Hardin.

Special thanks to Dr. Victor Hudman and staff, and the staffs of Northern Oaks Nursing Center, and Sears Hospice Care for their loving care and to Ralph and Jackie Weatherby for their special acts of kindness and concern during this difficult time.
