SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Newly tapped Republican vice presidential pick Rep. Paul Ryan will be in Springfield next week, local GOP officials confirm.

Greene County Republican Party chair Danette Proctor confirms Ryan will attend a private fundraiser in Springfield on Thursday, August 23.

Proctor says the event, by invitation only, will be held that evening at the Ramada Inn Oasis Convention Center.

Tickets range from $1,000 to $25,000.  It will be closed to the general public.

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney Saturday announced Ryan as his pick for running mate.  The two kicked off their campaign together in Michigan and now are campaigning separately around the country.
