James Abor, 89, of Abilene, Texas joined our Lord in Heaven Saturday,
September 29, 2007. Services will be 11:30, Thursday at Plum Street
United Methodist Church, 629 Nth 6th Street, with Iziar Lankford
officiating. Burial will follow at City Cemetery, under the direction
of North's Funeral Home. Family will receive friends Wednesday from
6:00 to 7:30 PM at North's Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange St.James, one of seventeen children, was born on January 22,1918 in Frosa, Texas. In 1945, he married his soul mate and best friend Gladys McGee. In 1954 they moved to Abilene where James began his 21 year career with The City of Abilene. He was a member of the Plum St. United Methodist Church. James was known for his sense of humor, love of sports, his witty sarcasm, and his ability to put a smile on your face.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gladys Abor, two brothers, Charles Abor and J.B. Abor, one sister, Martha Dixon, one son, Jerome Abor, one adopted daughter, Loudel McCreary, four grandchildren, Sophia Abor, Warren Abor, Anwar Abor, and Calvin Abor, six great-grandchildren, An, Jasminh, Sidney, Hayden, Madeline, and Savannah.
