"I could climb a mountain without hesitation."

Seven months ago, Anganette was fatigued.

"I was stressed out, I thought I was having a heart attack."

With heart disease being the number one killer among American women, she didn't hesitate in joining a 5-week nutritional boot camp run by cardiologist Dr. Baxter Montgomery.

"Its amazing how the body has the ability to heal itself. And that's really what we're capitalizing on."

His goal is to stamp out heart disease, diabetes, and obesity by honing in on diet.

"You want to eat natural foods in as close to its natural state as possible."

The diet is plant based. That means no meat, no eggs, and no dairy. Thelma Ellen says she'll never go back to meat.

"There's no desire to go back to meat because of all of the benefits -- getting thinner and getting healthier."

Maria Rodriguez has seen her vision improve. Before the boot camp she was on five medications.

"One for acid reflux. Two for diabetes, one for cholesterol, and one for triglycerides."

After the second week, she went down to zero. And men have seen benefits as well.

"I had torn ACL's in both knees and also some screws in my back."

After years of playing in the NFL, ex-football player Ricardo McDonald chose to try an alternative to medication.

"I had not been able to squat for almost 20 years since I left college. And for the first time, I was actually able to get on a squat machine and do some squats."

"So after the 5 weeks of detox, boot campers will come into the grocery store and shop for transitional items. Like this bag of prepackaged fruit. It will really go a long way throughout your work week."

Dr. Montgomery hopes this boot camp will reform their belief system.

"It's been a life changing experience."

The four-week boot camp costs approximately $300. Each session lasts three hours.
