Catherine “Cathy” Anne Soto

Catherine “Cathy” Anne Soto, 35, loving daughter, granddaughter, sister and friend, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2010 in Austin after a short illness. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 22nd at St. Vincent Pollotti Catholic Church, 2525 Westview with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 6:30 PM with Rosary beginning at 6:30 and Prayer Service at 7:00 PM on Sunday in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South.

Cathy was born on July 10, 1974 in Abilene. She graduated from Abilene High in 1992 and received her degree in Elementary Education from Hardin-Simmons University. Cathy had a great love for music and dance and it was an important part of her life as she participated in the St. Vincent Pallotti Ballet Folklorica Dance Group, choreographed with Sigma Alpha at Hardin-Simmons, and was an assistant instructor at the Patty Harper Dance Studio. While in Abilene she worked at Victoria’s Secret and the Abilene Police Department. She had been employed by Daimler Financial Services in Fort Worth for the past 4 years. Cathy was a Junior League Member in both Abilene and Forth Worth.

Survivors include her parents, Gomecindo and Irene Soto of Abilene; her sister, Maria Soto of Fort Worth; Maternal grandmother, Chona Hernandez of Abilene; Aunts and Uncles, Stella and Jack Nieto, Gloria and Mike Hernandez, Becky and Alex Mendoza, Mike Soto, John and Elda Soto, Pat Hernandez, Paul and Shell Hernandez, David and Lisa Hernandez, Janie Seballos, Norma Pucci and Richard Soto.

Her paternal grandparents, Maria and Miguel Soto and her maternal grandfather, Fermin Hernandez preceded her in death.

Pallbearers for the service are her cousins, Alex Mendoza Jr., Michael Soto, Michael Hernandez, Doug Hernandez, Danny Hernandez and Carlos Hernandez. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Hernandez Jr., Steven Hernandez, Christopher Hernandez and Gabriel Hernandez.
