James Edward “J.B.” Broyles Sr.

J.B. was born in Modesto, California on April 27, 1954 and came to Abilene when he was one year old. He attended Abilene High and on June 1, 1970 married his high school sweetheart Mary Johnson. He was a skilled mechanic owning and operating J.B.’s Auto Repair for several years and later working for National Automatic Transmission. His knowledge of mechanics led him to the hobby of racing sprint cars which he enjoyed doing with his sons. J.B. was an active member of the Grace Tabernacle Church where he served as a music minister. He loved to sing and could play any musical instrument that he picked up.
J.B. was a loving husband, father, PaPa and a friend to many. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Mary Broyles of Abilene; his sons and daughters-in-law, J.J. and Jennifer Broyles and Benjamin and Kelly Broyles all of Abilene; three grandchildren, Jayden, Katelyn and Bryson Broyles; one brother, Mike Broyles of Grand Prairie; a sister, Mary Ann Catchings of Scurry; his step-dad, Benny O’Dell of Winters and his dear friend, David Pieper of Abilene; as well as numerous, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
