Lupe Gonzalez, 81, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2010 in Abilene. Her
funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 25th in the
Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South with burial following in
the Garden of Memories at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation is from
5:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday at Elmwood Funeral Home.
Lupe was born on August 14, 1928 in Eastland the daughter of Jose Ortiz and Cruz Pallisa Ortiz. She grew up in Abilene and married Rosendo Gonzalez in 1946. She lived in San Diego, California for 28 years as her husband made his career with San Diego Gas and Electric and they returned to Abilene after his retirement in 1988. Lupe was a member of Southside Baptist Church, she enjoyed crochet, cooking and being with family.
Survivors include her son-in-law, Steve Brackman of Abilene; three grandchildren, Gina Torres and husband Kenneth Speed of Sweetwater, Angela Garcia and husband Lazarus of Abilene and John Brackman and wife Kristie of Abilene; six great grandchildren, Sarah Torres, Katie and Joseph Vecchio, Nicholas, Alex and Zachary Brackman; six brothers, Dan, Luis, Moises, Israel, Eliseo and Charles; six sisters, Josie, Minnie, Vicky, Cruz, Corina and Naomi.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, her daughter, Sally Ortiz Brackman, a great grandson, Alejandro Aguilar, 2 brothers, Joe and Alcadio and 1 sister, Divina.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Hendrick Hospice Care, PO Box 1922, Abilene, TX 79604.
