Donus Ray Belew

Donus Ray Belew, 81, died Saturday, March 27, 2010, in Abilene, Texas at his residence.

The son of Minnie Opal (Scott) and James Cecil Belew, he was born on February 21, 1929 in Runnels County, Texas and graduated from high school in Winters, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army from November 19, 1950 to November 17, 1952, having attained the rank of Corporal.

On July 5, 1973, he married Mada F. Clark in New Mexico.

Mr. Belew was a farmer in Runnels County, Texas for a period of time, later working as technician for Sun Oil Company for many years, retiring in 1988. In 2005, he returned to Abilene, where he was a member of Faith Baptist Church.

His parents and brother, James Belew, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Mada Belew of Abilene; brother, Scotty Belew and wife, Peggy of Wingate, Texas; sisters and their husbands, Doris Reid and Verlon of Abilene and Charlotte Robinson and Gayland of Brownwood; sister-in-law, Carrie Belew of Big Spring; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 29, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Lakeview Cemetery in Winters, Texas. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 28, at the funeral home.

Frank Saling, Bill F. Belew, John Paul Belew, Lester Robinson, Donnie Belew and Conda Richards will serve as pallbearers.
