Gene Franklin Jackson, 83, of Dallas formerly of Abilene passed away Thursday, April 29, 2010. A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Abilene City Cemetery with Steve McCormick officiating under the direction of North’s Funeral Home. 242 Orange St.
Mr. Jackson was born August 18, 1926 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Franklin and
Clara Jackson. He graduated from high school in Odessa, Texas. He
attended Texas Tech University before being drafted in the United States
Marine Corp where he served in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of
the Baptist church.
He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Charles Jackson. Brother
Robert Jackson and parents Frank & Clara Jackson.
He is survived by his wife, Joe Ann Tandy Jackson, who were married for
63 years. Two sons; Joe Frank Jackson and wife Pamela of Elk City,
Oklahoma and Mark Jackson, wife Selena & daughter Megan of San
Angelo. Two sisters; Betty Bates of Graham, Texas and Patsy Pannell of
San Marcus, Texas. Two brother-in-laws; Dr. and Mrs. Charles Tandy of
Dallas, Texas and Alex and wife Julie Tandy of Keller, Texas. Two
grandchildren; Jeremiah Jackson & wife Allison of Ft. Worth and
Christine Jackson of Elk City, Oklahoma. One great-grandchild; Taylor
Jackson of Ft. Worth, Texas.
