Nelda D. Benson, 56, died Monday, October 8, 2007, at an Abilene medical center.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South, with Rev. Ernie Kight officiating. Interment will follow in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Born in Sikeston, Missouri on June 14, 1951, Nelda was the daughter of Genevieve (Huls) and Matthew Beamon Lewis. Twenty-one years ago, she moved from Sikeston to Abilene, Texas, where she married James Benson on March 26, 1988. Nelda was self-employed as an independent insurance agent, having previously worked for Cellular One. She was a member of Wyndrock Missionary Baptist Church.
Her parents and grandparents, Jim and Katie Huls, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, James Benson of Abilene; daughter, Tina Marie Fuwell of Bloomfield, MO; stepson, Wes Benson of Abilene; stepdaughter, Ginger Benson of Fort Worth; sister, Teresa Guiling of Cape Girardeau, MO; and two grandchildren, Taylor Rae Fuwell and Morgan Marie Fuwell.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Goff, Ken Beasley, Vernon Willingham, Robert Valdez, Randy Heald, Dr. Stephen Erck and Randy Pilgram.
