Germann2007-10-13-1192310135.jpgMamyedell Germann, age 85, died Thursday, October 11, 2007 in Abilene, Texas.

A private burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park on Saturday, October 13, followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m. at Sears Methodist Center Chapel, 3202 South Willis St., officiated by Rev. Rob Blum assisted by Rev. Norman Patton. Visitation will follow the service. Arrangements are being made by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

Mamyedell was born in Kirkland, Texas, the first daughter of Ira and Adell Simmons on July 22, 1922. A few years later the family moved to Camp Springs, Texas. After graduating from Hobbs High School, Rotan, Texas, she attended Texas Tech University and McMurry College.
     
Mamyedell married Walter Germann in Washington, D. C. on September 4, 1943. They were married for 61 years. They had one son, Wally Germann, Jr.

They moved to Abilene in 1950 when Walter retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Mamyedell retired from McMurry College where she was a secretary and later Assistant Financial Aid Officer.

She was a faithful member of Fairmont United Methodist Church, now Southwest Drive UMC, and the United Methodist Women. She was also a fifty-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Mamyedell was preceded in death by her parents; beloved son, Wally Germann, Jr., in 1980; and her beloved husband, Walter, in 2005.

Survivors include her sister, Helen Winter of Snyder, TX, and nephew, Gary Bowen and wife, Barbara, of Dunn, TX.

Thanks and appreciation goes to Sears Methodist Center and Sears Hospice for many years of loving care.
