Clifford Enoch Ashton, 78, died Saturday, May 22, 2010, at an Abilene
nursing home.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, in The Hamil
Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, Texas.
Burial will be in Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission, Hidalgo County,
Texas.
The son of the late Lillie Mae (Virdell) and Thomas Ashton, Clifford
was born on April 16, 1932 in Mason Texas. He served in the U.S. Navy
during the Korean Conflict, and was a chemical plant operator for Union
Carbide in Brownsville, Texas for many years. In October of 2009,
Clifford moved to Abilene from Victoria, Texas where he was an active
member of the American Legion Post 166.
Clifford is survived by his wife, Frieda Ashton of Abilene; sons,
Clifford Wayne Ashton and Robert Owen Ashton both of Bossier City,
Louisiana; daughter, Debra Mae Huntley of Abilene; four grandchildren,
Michael Ashton, Wendy Morris, Heather Dean and Taylor Ashton; and two
great-grandchildren, Elijah Morris and Peyton Ashton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society
209 So. Danville Dr., Bldg. B, Suite 107, Abilene, TX 79605, or
American Legion Post 166, 1402 E. Santa Rosa St., Victoria, Texas
