Pauline “Pola” D. Ramirez, 81, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2010, at Hendrick Medical Center. A prayer service will be held 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Abilene Funeral Home. Services will be 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Catholic Church with Father George Thirumangalam officiating. Burial will follow in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, directed by Abilene Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ramirez was born June 24, 1928, in Stamford, Texas to Ysabel and Paubla Cedillo. She had been a resident of Abilene since 1958. Survivors include her husband, C.M. Ramirez of Abilene; a daughter, Dora Ramirez of Abilene; a son, Richard Ramirez of Abilene; three brothers, Jessie Cedillo of Stamford, Dario Cedillo of Fort Worth and Nick Cedillo of Denver; a sister, Lupe Castaneda of Omaha, Nebraska; five grandchildren, Camilla (Jon) Ferguson of Mesquite, Melanie (Daniel) Lopez of Norfolk, Virginia, Erica Jones of Dallas, Kelly Ramirez and Ryan Ramirez, both of Abilene; four great granddaughters and three great grandsons. Mrs. Ramirez was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Isabel Cedillo Jr., Pedro Cedillo, Raymond Cedillo and David Cedillo; and a sister, Incarnacion Nieto.
Pallbearers will be Greg Cedillo, Ramon Cedillo, Robert Cedillo, Jessie Cedillo, Jack Cedillo, Tim Cedillo and a honorary pallbearer, Davian Cedillo.
