Shane Schoeller of Willard is currently the Speaker of the House Pro-Tem. He's on a 2-day farm tour, talking with producers about how the Secretary of State's office affects them.
Schoeller believes the Prop B initiative surrounding dog breeders a few years ago was confusing to Missouri voters. He says if elected, he wants to clear up ballot language by establishing a fair ballot commission.
"So the fair ballot commission will be independent," he said. "Bi-partisan in nature, and it will be there to make sure that when these initiatives are written, that the ballot summary and the title, that if anybody thinks there's bias or it's written unfairly they'll have the opportunity to go before this commission."
Schoeller is a Republican and he's running against Democrat Jason Kander of Kansas City. Current Secretary of State Robin Carnahan is not running for re-election.
