Brooks Files Fair Election Practices Complaint Against Slaughter

In the heated race for New York's 25th congressional district, challenger Maggie Brooks has filed a complaint against incumbent Louise Slaughter for making what she calls "inaccurate" and "dishonest" statements.

The Brooks campaign filed the grievance Monday based on a new ad released from the Slaughter campaign. Brooks' campaign says the ad makes inaccurate statements and wrongly connects Brooks to projects and blames her for outcomes that she says she was not responsible for.

The Slaughter campaign has criticized Maggie Brooks for several mishaps that have occurred during her time as County Executive, including the Robutrad scandal and the misuse of funds by former Rochester airport director Dave Damelio. Slaughter's campaign says these mishaps of Brooks' administration have cost taxpayers over $400 million.

The Fair Election Practices Committee will meet Thursday at 4 p.m. to assess the validity of Brooks' claim.
