Heartbeat: Humid and Heat Could Result in Health Problems

After getting all this rain in Abilene, we're expecting humid conditions this week. Throw in the heat, and you've got potential for health problems.
Some of the more obvious issues with humidity include worsened allergy and asthma symptoms.
But, doctors say, you should also protect your heart. One local cardiologist says in a dry heat, like in Arizona, people are better able to sweat, which helps to regulate body temperature.
But, combine that heat with humid conditions like we're expecting this week, and health risks like heart problems, heat exhaustion and general illness increase.
To avoid problems, Doctor McCleskey says to stay cool and drink lots of water.
