Our question: What specific issues would be a high priority for you if you were elected to Congress?
Rodney
Davis: What I'd like to do is to continue to keep our tax rates low,
provide small businesses the certainty they need to actually begin to
buy inventory, and invest in people, which creates jobs in this country.
I want to pay down the national debt. It's 16 trillion dollars and
completely unsustainable and I want to control spending in Washington
while repealing and replacing Obamacare with a true market based
healthcare safety net that will not allow us to give up our choices of
where and when to seek medical care.
David Gill: I think that cutting our deficit is important and that is achievable when we have people in Congress who are not selling themselves out to the highest bidder. I think that our deficit is a result of the fact that we have politicians in Washington who take money from big Wall Street corporations and banks and I'm proud to be a candidate who refuses to take a penny from those Wall Street banks and corporations. In contrast I am running against a man who just received a big check from exon Mobil and there's lots of guys in Washington like that. And it's no surprise then that we waste 20 billion dollars a year in subsides to the big oil companies on top of the record profits that they're already making we give them tax payer dollars. So the deficit is a very important priority of mine.
