Despite having one of the best seasons ever and their 11 and 1 record, all eyes are on Cooper this week for some unwanted attention off the field.

"We are doing so well in football right now and for our football players to go off and ruin it. It make us look bad, give us a bad name," Jessica Wrisley, Senior at Cooper High School said.

According to officials at Abilene-ISD three members of the  Cooper High School "Courgar Pride" pep squade were sent home before a game following an incident in Lubbock. Abilene Police have told us that the three girls were caught shoplifting at the Lubbock Mall Friday. While they were released, they could still be facing criminal charges by Lubbock PD, as they continue to investigate.

"It's very disappointing. I would expect more from our football players," Robert Todd, Senior at Cooper High School said.

This news comes right after the announcement that three starting football players at Cooper were suspended from the team this weekend, for what is being called a "violation of team standards." Neither the Police nor the school district is saying what the football players did.

"It's very disappointing to know they've gone this far and something they've done has taken a toll on everybody," Christy Morrison, Parent of a Student at CHS said.

Christy has a daughter that attends Cooper High. She said she was disappointed when she heard the news.  While she hopes they get the proper punishment for what they've done, she doesn't want to see them kicked off the team.

"I hope it doesn't affect the whole team. Cooper is still a good school and Cooper still has a good football team," Morrison said.
