KTAB Going Green: Oncor Energy Tree Trimming

Until recently, Oncor's policy has been to trim trees 10 ft., 4 in. from all power lines.
After a recent meeting with State Senator, John Corona, the company has agreed to cut less and launch a new program which will explore other methods of shielding the lines. One way to do this will be to place a plastic covering over power lines in areas with a lot of trees. This will prevent the trees from acting as conductors of electricity during storms, all while helping to reduce the damage done to the tree during trimming.
As a result of the new agreements, Oncor will reduce trimming from 10 ft., 4 in. to 7 ft. in residential areas.
