Many seniors came out to Rose Park Senior Center For holiday brunch and enjoyed being waited on before they had to do all the cooking and cleaning for their families
Joanne Bennett is happy Christmas is finally here.
“I'm very excited the holidays are here. I have been working since Thanksgiving getting everything together,” she said.
The holidays are time to spend with loved ones so when her 94-year-old father-in-law invited she and her husband to holiday brunch she knew she wanted to go.
“It is wonderful.”
She said not only does she get to spend time with her family but somebody else does the cooking and cleaning.
“Usually one of us is doing the cooking and the other something else so it's nice to just sit down and have a really good time,” she said.
Her husband Ross agreed.
“She spends a lot of times fixing things and keeping us fat,” he said.
Mrs. Bennett says she's enjoying be waited on while she can. She has a big meal to prepare on Christmas and can't forget about dessert.
“I'm making Yorkshire pudding and lemon meringue pie and a chocolate pie so I've got my work cut out for me.”
A lot of work indeed so today she is focused on her family and having somebody else do the cooking and cleaning.
