If you weren't yet a believer in the reach and power of social media, the Hailey Dunn case may have changed your mind.

In roughly one week and a half, the "Find Hailey Dunn" Facebook page has more than 10,000 fans. The page has helped spur much of the momentum behind the search for the missing 13-year-old Colorado City girl.

The developer of the page has used it to get information out from news outlets across the region and users have organized searches via the Facebook page.

Abilene social media expert Robyn Sharp, of Sharp Social Media, says Hailey's case is an example of the power of social media and its ability to transform situations.

"I really think social media is becoming the new face on the milk carton," said Sharp. "It's a great way to get information out there and help support the family and community to help find those missing children."

Twitter has also been a primary source of information in the Dunn case. Hundreds of tweets and retweets have mentioned Hailey in the days following her disappearance.

I agree the facebook page helped get information out and help get more people looking for her. The page isn't available anymore I have made several attempts.
