Trooper on Dunn Affidavits: "I Just Want to Find Hailey"

By: Austin Kellerman
Updated: January 12, 2011
Search warrant affidavits are giving new insight into previously unknown details regarding the disappearance of 13-year-old Hailey Dunn.

When bigcountryhomepage.com asked Texas Department of Public Safety Senior Trooper Sparky Dean about these once private details now becoming public, Dean said he and investigators remain focused on one thing.

"I just wanted to find Hailey," Dean stated.

Dean wanted to make it clear there's still no one or two suspects in the case.  He says there are numerous people being looked at and interviewed.  He says developments are "still unfolding."

During the last news conference conducted by authorities Monday, Colorado City's City Manager Pete Kampfer said investigators are working two angles: one being that Hailey is a missing person who is alive.

"We're optimistic, and that's our hope," Kampfer said.

The other part of the investigation is criminal. Kampfer said that portion of the investigation would mean Hailey is deceased or being held against her will.

"By talking to you, I'm letting those bad guys know that we're going to find them," said Kampfer. "We're very aggressive."

Kampfer added that multiple leads are taking investigators in different directions. He said he can't predict what law enforcement will be doing tomorrow or the next day because they're aggressively following leads that are taking them throughout the Colorado City area.
