Raw Interviews with Adkins after Hailey Disappeared

By: Laura Kellerman and Priscilla Luong
Updated: January 17, 2011
Abilene, TX—Shawn Adkins, who has been named a suspect in the disappearance of His girlfriend's daughter, Hailey Dunn, isn't saying much lately to the media or to investigators.

But KTAB's Priscilla Luong interviewed him together with Hailey's mom, Billie Dunn, on Jan. 3 and Jan. 4, after the 13-year-old had been missing for seven or eight days.

Adkins said he was clueless as to why she would have run away.

"She's very outgoing and she loves her family.  That's her number one thing.  She's very involved in school, loves sports, and she's just overall a wonderful girl," he said on Jan. 3.

"I didn't see anything out of ordinary other than the police saying she didn't take anything.  That raised some red flags to us and really, really worried us."

On Jan. 4, following harsh comments made about him on Nancy Grace the night before, Adkins said it was frustrating, but didn't bother him because his main focus was Hailey's safe return.

"I love her with all my heart and I believe she loves me with all her heart," he said on Jan. 4.  "As far as me, Hailey, Billie and David, we get along fine.  I would never do anything with that little girl.  I love her with all my heart."
