Many of us spend our work days sitting in front of a computer, sit during our commute home, then sit at home to relax.

"People who are sedentary have increased inflammation just as a result of sitting," said Dr. Mark Gillanov of the Cleveland Clinic.

Increased inflammation in the body has been linked to heart disease.

A new study found markers for inflammation were twice as high in people who spent more than four hours a day sitting in front of a computer or television.

The solution is exercise.

"Take the stairs instead of the elevator, Dr. Gillanov suggested.  "Walk down the hallway to talk to somebody instead of sending an email."
