Most of us love a good cup of coffee....it wakes us up in the morning or gives us a boost in the middle of the day. Well, you might enjoy it even more when you find out that one local coffee shop is making an effort to go green serving up your favorite cup of joe!

"Whenever we are done making our espresso daily, we save the coffee grounds. We have different customers that  like to come in an use those for their gardening.  They use them or potted plants in the house, it helps as fertilizer and helps the plants grow."

Grounds for Gardeners is a program that Hardback Cafe, in Hastings, began as an effort to find a second life for something that there is plenty of every day.

"Its everybody's responsibility to help go green, to help the environment out a little bit...so any way that Hastings can help, that's just something that we like to add to the top."

So, whether you are a coffee drinker stopping in for your favorite pick-me-up or if you are an avid gardener who wants some great nutrition for your plants....stop by the Hardback Cafe in Hastings. They will be more than happy to help you either way!
