You could get a cash reward this week from Crime Stoppers.

The employees of a South Abilene business say a woman recorded on the store surveillance system tried to use a counterfeit $100 bill to make a purchase on Friday, Jan. 14.

The store clerk refused to accept the bill and the woman left without anything of value and without the counterfeit bill.

Forgery remains a big problem, and Abilene Crime Stoppers offers the cash reward for information that helps police find and arrest the person responsible for the counterfeit bill. You never have to give your name. The Crime Stoppers hot-line telephone number is 676-TIPS or 676-8477.

Forgery reduces the value of our money and increases the cost for merchandise, police said.
