Nearly 4,000 women dressed in red attended the annual Go Red for Women luncheon today put on by the American Heart Association and Abilene Regional Medical Center to learn about the warning signs of and preventative measures against heart disease.

Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women over 35, according to the American Heart Association.

The luncheon featured several guest speakers including a cardiologist, advocate, recent heart attack survivor and a motivational speaker.

The event raises money for the American Heart Association through ticket sales, donations and an auction of stuffed purses donated by people and businesses in the Abilene community.
