Fewer New Leads Developing in Dunn Case

By: Snyder Daily News
Updated: February 16, 2011
Fewer leads have developed over the past few days in the case of missing Colorado City teenager Hailey Dunn.

While leads are still being followed, some have been dead-ends, including a sock found in Big Spring. Pete Kampfer, Colorado City city manager and police spokesman, said there is no evidence the sock has anything to do with the case.

In Colorado City on Tuesday, rumors were rampant that possible evidence had been found along the creek in Ruddick Park. However, Hailey’s mother, Billie Jean Dunn, said Tuesday afternoon that she had not been notified of any discovery evidence.

“No one has told me about that,” she said.

Six agencies remain on the case – the Colorado City police department, the 32nd Judicial District Attorney’s office, Mitchell and Scurry sheriff’s offices, the Texas Rangers and FBI.

Two national search organizations will return to Colorado City this weekend to help search for the missing teenager. Representatives from the Laura Recovery Center and KlaasKids will help organize weekend search efforts. The groups will spend much of Friday mapping out areas to search and then will hit those areas Saturday and Sunday.

Organizers said those with ATVs or horses will be needed this weekend.

A couple of ATVs were seen Tuesday along the banks of the creek in the Colorado City park, but it is not known if they were searching or just riding.
