Searchers in Colorado City voiced their feelings Saturday about the pornographic images authorities found on Shawn Adkins' computer.

Volunteers said although they are disturbed by the news, they're glad people are turning their attention back to the case.

"I think it does help get her back out there because for a while it was starting to die down," said searcher Kristy Lloyd.

KRBC obtained affidavits this week authorities used to seize a computer believed to belong to Adkins with more than 108,000 photos and videos of pornographic and deviant acts. Law enforcement also confiscated a memory stick from Billie Dunn's bedroom containing more than 300 pornographic photos and videos.

According to Mitchell County Sheriff Patrick Toombs, among all the photos and videos, there were images of child porn and beastiality.

"It's emotional enough just to be out there looking for Hailey. But to have this added dimension of the possibility of child pornography...it's so heartbreaking," said Shirley Crawford, who has been searching since January.

Searcher Stephanie Boyd said although she's disturbed by the findings, she believes it has little to do with Hailey's case.

"Most people that are into stuff like that...they're more into it for the pleasure than actually doing any physical harm," she said.

Lloyd said her group plans to continue focusing their efforts on Hailey rather than Billie and Shawn.

"Everybody has their opinion. To each their own. We're not out here to judge them, we're just out here to help find their child," she said.

According to Sheriff Toombs, it will be up to the Howard and Mitchell County D.A. to file criminal charges.

Comments

In my opinion, this revelation is just another "nail in the coffin" for Billie and Shawn and brings to light the comments that the grandmother made of Hailey telling her that she would wake up at night to see Shawn standing in her bedroom doorway, watching her. It all makes sense now - Billie and / or Shawn know what happened to Hailey and they are BOTH sick individuals!!!

Our government needs to do more to educate people about "child [censored]". Again, too many people believe child [censored] to be nude photos of little kids. But that is a horrible misconception. People need to know what these type of photos and videos really depict: children, and even babies, being [censored]. If a grown woman can only try to imagine the horrendous pain a child is put through when being [censored]/molested, perhaps more women would get involved and advocate to protect our children. Sadder still, is the fact that there are many many parents (moms and dads) who abuse their children in this way, and allow others to do so as well. As long as they can make money off it, and receive their sick, sadistic pleasure, it will continue to happen. I for one, think the time has come for our government to step up to the plate and start doing some censorship through the ISP's to put a stop to ALL [censored] online.

Thank you for those stats, Nancy. Hopefully people will become eduated before they make outrageous statements on the "pleasure" of child [censored]. Quite possibly the whole town thinks that way.

REAL STATS ON THOSE WHO ARE CONVICTED FOR POSSESSION OF "CHILD [censored]" - WHICH IS JUST A NICER NAME FOR CHILD [censored]:

Less than 1% of child [censored] collections limit themselves to nude or semi-nude photos, according to the study conducted in 2001:
83% contain images of children 6-12 years old,
39% had images of children 3-5 years old,
19% had images of children younger than

3. The vast majority of child [censored] collections show children being brutally sexually assaulted:
80% of collections seized had photos showing [censored] penetration, and
21% of collections showed images of physical assault and torture.

I have to disagree with the searcher that said child [censored] and [censored] is done for "pleasure". Statistics do not bear this out, in fact quite the opposite:

[b]85%[/b] of child [censored] processors admit they [b][censored] children [/b] at a rate of 13.5 victims per processer.
[b]13%[/b] of viewers of child [censored] deny victims but [b]failed[/b] a polygraph on this question.
[b]80%[/b] of viewers of child [censored] said they had [b][censored] relations with children [/b] and passed the polygraph on this question.

I feel like this is VERY disturbing and I do not feel that the child [censored] has nothing to do with the disappearance of Hailey. God bless this child and I pray she is in a better environment than she was at home.

Nathalie, you are absolutley right! I glossed over the article and missed this-"Most people that are into stuff like that...they're more into it for the pleasure than actually doing any physical harm," she said.

Child [censored] should not ever be described as a "pleasure". I do not have figures to prove what % of viewers actually become "doers". However, I do think that the next step is to act on those fantasies.

Thank you for so eloquently pointing that out.

While I applaud the searchers, I absolutely disagree with the minimizing language that the searcher is using concerning child [censored] being just for peoples' pleasure. And I find it HIGHLY irresponsible reporting to quote someone either out of context or out of reality that child [censored] is EVER anything other than horrifying and relevant to ALL the situations surrounding the person who has it in their possession. Particularly so in the case of a missing child when one of the HUGE issues with child [censored] is the overwhelming number of times that 'just looking' turns to 'doing'. Shame, shame, shame, bigcountry.

I applaud the searchers, the time & effort each has given. I understand their need to stay focused on finding Hailey, even though the families involved continue to create drama and behave unacceptably.

The truth will win out. Bless all of you!

They need to file criminal charges on Billie Dunn and Shawn Akins as child [censored] is child [censored] and others get charged with [censored] I think that is the nature of those peopleand They can lie but it was in their possession.
