Many are questioning missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn's mother's decision to cut off contact with her boyfriend, Shawn Adkins.

Billie Dunn filed a no-trespassing order against Adkins, the only named suspect regarding her daughter's disappearance, on Friday after spending the night in jail.

Dunn was arrested Thursday when police came to her home to carry out a search warrant on him and she lied and said he wasn't there.

Hope for Hailey volunteer Stephanie Boyd said she's wary about the timing of Dunn's decision to cut ties with her boyfriend.

"Why, almost three months after your 13-year-old daughter goes missing? Why not do it that first day," Boyd questioned on Sunday.

Dunn said Adkins can't be on her property for a year under the order. She said she filed it after investigators told her about threats they found in his phone.

"Whenever Hailey first went missing, I think she should have put it on him then. That's what I think any mom should do," Boyd said.

Others were glad to hear about Billie's decision, but added it doesn't bring them closer to finding her daughter.

"I think it's great, he is the person of interest. But it is hard to keep hope up," said Hope for Hailey volunteer Kristy Lloyd.

Hope for Hailey searchers covered roughly 900 square miles in Howard, Mitchell, and Scurry Counties since the girl was last seen on December 27th.

Boyd said she will continue to search with the group, but questions if she'll ever know the truth about what happened to 13-year-old Hailey Dunn.

"Everything that has happened is a little suspicious to a lot of the community. All we want is answers," she said.

Hope for Hailey searchers will meet again next Friday and Saturday at 153 Walnut in Colorado City.

It is odd why she waited this long . She should have washed her hands of him when he made the statement when asked where she was and Akins made the statement Billie and I both know If she wasnt guilty why would she not get the protective order then How many people who wasn't guilty would have anything to do with anyone who would make that kind of statement and especially not have them back at the house I know I sure wouldn't
