Adkins' Attorney: Investigators Not Focused on Finding Hailey

By: Austin Kellerman
Updated: March 24, 2011
The attorney of the only named suspect in the disappearance of 13-year-old Hailey Dunn has issued a statement that says law enforcement isn't interested in cooperation in the case.

A letter from attorney C. Barrett Thomas of Abilene says Shawn Adkins has continued to speak with law enforcement despite the attorney's advice. Thomas says Adkins believes in his heart that cooperation is the "key to solving Hailey's disappearance."

Adkins is the former boyfriend of Hailey Dunn's mother.

The letter goes on to say it's clear law enforcement isn't interested in cooperation or exploring possibilities beyond Adkins being the guilty party. Thomas says investigators have found time to search and research Adkins and his family. However, Thomas notes law enforcement has called off the search for Hailey.

Thomas says law enforcement has made allegations of illegal pornographic material but has failed to provide evidence or make an arrest.

The letter goes on to say the greatest hope of Thomas and Adkins is that law enforcement turns its investigation back towards finding Hailey.

Hailey Dunn went missing on December 27, 2010. Adkins is believed to have been the last person to see the 13-year-old.

Wonder who they think believes all that the lawyer says NOT I If Akins is cooperating WHY did he lie and why hasn't he been hunting for Haley???If I know where something is I wouldn't want to hunt . His attorney don't need to be saying things like LE is trying to make the families suffer
