Hailey's Dad Arrested after Showing Up Late to Court

By: Tim Johnston and Jessica Reyes
Updated: April 6, 2011
The father of missing 13-year-old Hailey Dunn was arrested this morning after showing up late to a scheduled court appearance.

Mitchell County Sheriff Patrick Toombs said by the time Clint Dunn had arrived, the judge had already issued a warrant for his arrest.

Dunn had turned himself in in February on a warrant for violating his probation with the original charge of marijuana possession, driving with an expired license, and a unsafe backing.  The marijuana arrest happened in January 2010 and Dunn was sentenced to six months probation.

Today's 9 a.m. court appointment was related to the marijuana and expired license charges.  Toombs said he did not know how late Dunn arrived.

Dunn is being held in the Mitchell County jail.  A bond has not yet been set.  Toombs estimated it would be set at $2,500 for each of the two counts.

In addition to a handful of marijuana convictions in the past, Dunn was sentenced in 1994 to two years in prison and five years probation for burglary of a building. He was 17 years old at the time.

Hailey Dunn was last seen on Dec. 27.

I agreee wholeheartedly with #3 norma! While the POS' that did this are out roaming the street laughing at the LE and searchers, this man who has been spending all his time&money to search for his daughter now has to sit in jail and then pay a fine to get out just for being late for court!I'm sure he was out doing something related to finding Hailey unlike POS momma(if you can call her that)that hasn't spent any time or effort looking for her own daughter.I pray for Hailey and her Father that they find her soon and whoever is responsible for her disappearance sits in jail for the rest of their lives! Let's worry about the real criminals here, not this poor man that got caught with a little mj! I gaurantee you that mj didn't make this girl disappear, it was all the craziness the so-called mother was bringing around her children (stripping, drugs, child [censored],and their fascination w/true crimes). Thank God David is out of that house, now all I can hope and pray for is Hailey to be found!

I have been a Clint supporter from day one, but this news is making me less of one. I don't care if he smokes bananna peels, that is not the point. The point is that at some point in your life, you have to grow up and be responsible. How hard is it to be on time for court? He could have called ahead if there was a circumstance that was making him late. I may be wrong (I live in California where pot is legal for those having a med card) but I don't think LE in that small town set him up to be arressted again. If I was late for court, I know there would be a warrant issued-that is how the law works.

Clint-you have lots of people behind you and many many people searching and praying for Hailey. Get yourself straight and keep the media focus on Hailey, not on your own personal trials and tribulations.

And, by the way, divorce Billie.

This is just sad, a man who has been trying so hard to search for his daughter, going through so much and he is late for court, but shows up and the judge does this, I find this disgusting and even more disgusting that it is all about MJ.. Sad they spend so much time messing with peoples lives over POT and not the real true criminals.

Thank you so much Big Country for this article. We know that dad is a little tied up right now, and so efforts for finding Hailey will need to come from other sources while he is handling this situation. Thank you again for keeping us updated! :)

I don't know any of Hailey's family and cannot even imagine what they are going through. However, these charges have nothing to do with her disappearance. How this is "breaking news" to the Big Country Homepage is beyond me. Breaking news would be if you had uncovered the truth behind Hailey's disappearance or reported anything other than what you've been reporting which is basically the same as the police. If you want to keep Hailey's name in the media, do just that. There are too many wonderful things about this young lady to be focused on items that are unrelated to her disappearance. You might take a moment to imagine what life is going to like for her when she does come home. It's going to be hard enough for her, and she will be the one looking in people's faces, knowing they heard, saw or read things about her family they wouldn't ordinarily know. So #thanks# for your "continuing coverage of Hailey."
