Researchers and Texas landowners are teaming up to study turkeys, using state of the art equipment.

Biologist capture the birds to ID them, and monitor their habits using radio and GPS technology according to Dr. Bret Collier. 

"We put a backpack transmitter on them that we can use to follow the birds around.  Currently we have developed some that are using GPS technology.  We can map daily movements, seasonal movements..."

With the information biologist can help landowners with habitat recommendations.
