Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison doesn't appear ready to throw her full support behind Sarah Palin quite yet. On Wednesday, she offered cautious praise for the vice presidential nominee while attending the Republican National Convention in
Minnesota.Reporters asked the Texan if Ms. Palin is ready to be vice president. "She offers a lot to the ticket," Hutchison told the Dallas Morning News. "We'll see in the coming weeks how she does, where she goes. And I think she's going to do fine."
Hutchison was scheduled to address the convention Wednesday night. However, Gustav prompted organizers to shuffle around the schedule and Hutchison was bumped from the program. Hutchison's spokesperson said the senator volunteered to be dropped from the program so that the four days planned for the convention could be morphed into three.
Instead, Hutchison spent the day appearing on CSPAN and MSNBC to promote the convention and republican ticket for 2008. The Republican National Convention runs through Thursday and can be seen from 9-10pm on KTAB and KRBC.
