The Abilene Recycling Center, with the aide of Key City residents, is trying to provide art and activity supplies to Abilene schools.

Arts and crafts supplies are things that many classrooms can lack in and often times, teachers end up shelling out their own money in order to try to feed their student's creativity.

The Abilene Recycling Center tries to help out by providing a "Recycle Locker" where teachers can come and pick up donated items for their classes.

"Most teachers put out a lot of money  out of their pocket every year, especially at the beginning of the school year and this kind of helps them a little bit," said Bob Ervin, Manager of the Abilene Recycle Center.

Items can be as simple as cardboard toilet paper rolls or egg cartons, which are things that we all use on a daily basis.

Also available are pencils and rulers made of things like old blue jeans which means this is your classic "one man's trash is another man's treasure".

Its an opportunity for the simple staples of our everyday lives to be re-purposed to fuel a child's imagination.

"We can only give out what we get in, so if anybody needs anything or if anybody want to give anything that can help a teacher, by all means bring it down and we will take it," said Ervin.
