HSU to Hold Memorial Service for Drowned Student, Others

By: Laura Kellerman
Updated: May 3, 2011
This morning the Hardin-Simmons University committee will memorialize Kiefer Holman, the freshman student who died in a boating accident during Spring Break, and Dr. Tim Maddox, the head of the Psychology department who died suddenly on his way to class in the fall.

The names of 28 other friends and members of the university who passed away this year will also be included in the service.

"This has been an emotionally challenging year for our campus as we have grieved over so many losses," chaplain Kelly Pigott said. “Many people have asked about a memorial service as a way of providing some sense of closure.”

Students and faculty were also asked to submit names of loved ones who have passed away this school year to be memorialized.

The remembrance service takes place at 9:30 a.m. at the Behrens Auditorium.
